Mindwarp History
Saturday September 15th

11:40-11:50 pm Marissa looks around the empty apartment and smiles.Her new life is just beginning she thinks as she shuts the door for the final time.Her things have been shipped to Midville and she turns to begin the short walk to the train station.What will become of me?

11:50-12:00 pm Marissa looks around,looking for any soldiers,strangers.It's not a great idea to be traveling after curfew when your a mutant but she has to catch her train.She begins a brisk walk down the empty sidewalk.

12:00-12:10 am Marissa answers her cel phone and listens quickly to the caller.She glances up the street,then begins a brisk walk in the other direction.Unless she can find a cab during curfew she is a long walk from the address the caller gave her.

12:10-12:20 am Marissa continues her brisk walk,watching for a stray cab.A 'News 9' van speeds past her,it's lights revealing a soldier on the next corner.She stops and blends into the darkness of a nearby alley,reminding herself that she is an unregistered mutant out after curfew.

12:20-12:30 pm Sneaking quickly through the streets and alleys, Marissa takes comfort in the fact she will soon be in the company of an old confidant.She looks about and realizes that there are no lights anywhere,the city is dark.

12:30-12:40 pm Marissa reaches out with her mind,searching for her friend. ::Vengeance, where are you? There seems to have been some sort of power blackout.:: Surprisingly she hears his reply in her mind, ::I'm on my way to the mansion, see you there.:: Marissa smiles and then continues her way through the dark streets.

12:40-12:50 am Marissa quickly sends ::IF you are within range so that you hear me and I can hear you, we are pretty close to each other. Why don't you meet me so that we can make this journey together, you know, safety in numbers..:: Vengeance replies, ::Sounds great , see you in a few minutes.:: In a few minutes with small chat on the telepathic link they now share,Vengeance and Marissa find each other.The two duck into a dark alley and Vengeance pulls out the map showing the mansions location.He tells her to astral project to the mansion and he will guard her body.Marissa finds a corner and relaxes in a sitting position.She concentrates [spending 12 Power] and sends her astral self out,flying with amazing speed northward.She catches glimpses of helicopters,jets flying overhead,soldiers in the streets as she zeroes in on where the mansion should be.As she nears the spot she slows,the streets are full of military vehicles.Tanks,trucks,jeeps,vehicles of all kinds parked in weird angles along the streets.Beyond all of the vehicles there are helicopters hovering over a large crater,wreckage spread everywhere.Mindwarp hovers.unnoticed by passing soldiers,staring at the immense hole where the mansion once stood.

12:50-1:00 am Mindward stares at the damage all around her.The Blast seems to have centered at the mansion and radiated outward from there.Soldiers ramble about the area,helicopters soar overhead.All the wreckage points outward from that immense crater.She hears a strange whine and lokking over her shoulder she sees a strange aircraft with a large 'G' on the side hover to a landing.A group of costumed people slowly exit the aircraft,looking around in amazement.

1:00-1:10 am After pausing briefly to check out the costumed people, Mindwarp continues her approach towards the apparent epicenter of the destruction, the mansion. She reaches out with her mind but finds she is out of range to reach Vengeance.As she reaches the edge of the crater the ground slopes downward with steep grade.The blast must have occured undergound,she thinks as she tries floats over the scorched ground.Nothing withstood the blast and she hovers in the center of the explosion.

1:10-1:20 am Mindwarp decides that she should search deeper.The explosion happened below ground,perhaps there are survivors down there.She disappears into the dirt,a phantom, and searches about at high speed.There were quite a few sub-levels in the mansion but her search assures her that there is nothing left.Anybody that was in any of the sublevels would not have survived.

1:20-1:30 am Mindwarp scans the area telepathically to see if anyone, anything somehow, somewhere survived this colossal devastation.She scans to her range,looking for the faintest clue of another mind deep inside the wreckage.Her heart sinks when she finds nothing,no trace.

1:30-1:40 With a thought,Mindwarp returns to her body.She opens her eyes and begins to explain what she saw at the site. "Xavier's Mansion , Cerebro, the X-Men base, it's all gone." She pauses, "The random thoughts I picked up in the area mostly were about doing the job,following orders,securing the site."

1:40-1:50 pm Vengeance looks to Mindwarp, "Fuck! What the fuck are we going to do now? We can head to guardian base if you want.Grab on,I will teleport us there." He grabs her hand and taps his badge.They find themselves standing in the small HQ of the New York Base.

1:50-2:00 am Vengeance looks over at Marissa, "Well I going to get some sleep.Grab a cot and crash till morning." He walks out of the HQ,leaving Marissa looking around the small room.

2:00 am-? Marissa takes a few minutes to familiarize herself with her immediate surroundings,then goes looking for a cot.All over the small base costumed heroes have curled up on furniture,sleeping.Marissa also finds a place to curl up and soon drifts to sleep.

9:00-9:10 am Poundage wakes slowly starts to search the base for Imp.He finds he stretched out over two chairs in the research lab.She snores lightly,her laptop cuddled under one arm.As he leaves the research lab,Poundage runs into a strange woman in the hall.She smiles at him then steps over to him.

9:10-9:20 am "I am, Poundage, sworn protector of all that is good and enemy of all that is bad. I have heard of you through our mutual friend, Vengeance. Would you let everyone know when they wake that I have returned to Midville." ,Poundage says then walks away from her.Marissa looks around for a moment,not sure where she is,or where 'they' may be.She hears foot steps and turns to see Vengeance come down the hall to her.

9:20-9:30 am Vengeance smiles at her and leads her to another room where he finds a video screen.He orders the base to turn on the morning news and finds a seat.After he is comfortable,Marissa asks, "Hey Kip, Poundage has asked me to let everyone know that he is back in town. So exactly who is 'everyone'?"

9:30-9:40 am Vengeance looks over at his friend, "I will introduce you to them when they wake.Base,alert Lord Galen I need to see him when he awakes." The base replies, "... affirmative ..." The two sit and watch the news,waiting.The promos hint at the big story,the explosion at the mansion,but the heroes watch the weather report.Heavy snow in the north east,light snow in the midwest caused by a early winter storm.

9:40-9:50 am A video screen slides open on the one wall and the heroes quiet to watch the news. The screen shows a picture from a helicopter hovering a few miles from a large crater.Along the horizon small dots move back and forth,military helicopters flying all around the crater.The voice over speaking is slightly hushed, "... the site is quareentined and under heavy military protection.The group claiming responsibility call themselves the Mutant Liberation Front and claim their actions were in response to the government actions.Military units around the country are on high alert and there have been reports of the capture of mutant members of the organization.Government sources deny these claims but also state the proper federal authorities are doing everything they can to find the perpetrators." The screen switches to a grainy picture of a column of smoke drifting into a dark sky. "We can see the smoke as it billowed from the area just minutes after the explosion.Investigators right now say the explosion apparently happened inside the structure but say it will be a few days before they are able to be more concrete with an answer.Last night rumors ran around that witnesses report seeing a spot of light streak toward the structure just moments before the explosion.But after some searching today this reporter has been unable to find any witnesses to report this.On a brighter note there are confirmed reports that one of the Guardian aircraft was also in the area last night after the explosion and unconfirmed reports say that there were some Guardians investigating the area and a meeting between them and government personnel." The picture changes to the live broadcast of the reporters face,his hair whipping in the breeze of the helicopter blades. "This,of course,is an evolving story and I will report anything new as the story develops."

9:50-10:00 am "Well maybe we should meet this reporter.He may give us a clue to the whereabouts of this mutant militia." ,Vengeance says. "Maybe talking to the reporter is a good idea. They may have information that we don't." The two glance at the tv screen at the same time,focusing on the small channel ID in the corner. "Base,alert Lord Galen of my where abouts and tell him that I have a friend with me named MindWarp." ,Vengeance orders as the two leave the room and walk toward the hangar and the exit.

10:00-10:10 am The two heroes begin to make their way toward the explosion site.The streets of New York seem silent,very few people are out.They slip past a few military check points around the city then turn a corner to face a medical unit.A line of people curve back blocks,a soldier every few feet to keep the peace.

10:10-10:20 pm Vengeance and Mindwarp pause in the alley and Mindwarp begins to concentrate.She does a thought scan of the area,trying to focus on what kind of injuries are prevalent and to see if any underlying "blood tests" are being conducted to separate mutant from non mutants.She finds that all of the patients are lined up for a genetic test that will diagnose whether they have the virus or not.This same test also reveals whether they are mutants or not.Any one found to have the virus or to be a mutant is processed in another tent before having a seat on one of the waiting busses.Toward the end of her scan Mindwarp stumbles upon a very frightened mind.One of those waiting for the test apparently IS a mutant and is in great distress worrying over what will happen to her.For a moment Mindwarp almost feels the girl's mind 'brighten' and open.But then the fear grabs the girl again and she begins to nervously shift in line.Mindwarp turns and telepathically tells Vengeance of her findings and watches his eyes questioningly.

10:20-10:30 am [[[ maybe you should try to read the minds of a few soldiers. maybe find out where they are taking the mutants and if it is all mutants or just infected mutants. ]]] ,Vengeance suggests.Mindwarp continues to concentrate,relaying what she finds through the link.The soldiers are in a fog as to where those on the bus go except to a location they know as Staging Area 81.All mutants are being moved to the busses along with those infected with the virus.Suddenly Mindwarp's eyes go wide as she crouches in the alley.In her head she hears a strange female voice [[[ hello? someone out there? oh god it's just my nerves. i better stop or they might detect]]] The voice stops suddenly but Mindwarp knows who it was ... the girl waiting nervously in line,the girl staring right at her ...

10:30-10:40 am Mindwarp quickly relays her contact with the girl to Vengeance then proceeds to 'think' back at the girl. [[[ i can hear you. are you ok? who are you? were you here when all this started? are you infected with the virus? Do you know where area 81 is? Don't be afraid of me. ]]] She hears these thoughts sent back ,[[[ oh my! a telepath? i call myself blink. i live here in the city, what do you mean when this all started? i don't believe i have the virus but want to be sure. area 81? not sure what you mean. i'm not afraid of you but do have some concerns on what is going to happen when they discover i am a mutant. what should i do? ]]] Mindwarp turns her attention to scanning the area again,hoping to find some higher ranking officers that may have a better idea where the people are to be taken.Unfortunately all she can find out is all of those on the busses will be going to area 81,a staging area within an hours drive.

10:40-10:50 am [[[ Maybe you can get a location on area 81? ]]] Vengeance thinks to Mindwarp. [[[ If the girl does not want to register then maybe she shouldn't. ]]] he adds.

10:50-11:00 am Mindwarp scans the drivers of the massive busses to get an exact location of area 81. She finds that their route goes to a hangar at a nearby airfield.Mindwarp then proceeds to "tell" Blink that if she feels she is in danger, maybe she should get out of the line she is in.There is a pause as the girl wavers in line,now getting very close to one of the tents. [[[ but i must register.it is law.i'm not rebel like those last night.will they hunt me? ]]]

11:00-11:10 am [[[ what are your abilities? can you become invisible?]]] ,Mindwarp thinks to the girl.The reply is quick, [[[ your really beginning to scare me now. what should I do? ]]] Mindwarp then tells Vengeance the area 81 information and asks does he think she should astral project there so that we can know what they are doing there?

11:10-11:20 am Vengeance quickly thinks back, [[[ That sounds like a good idea we can see exactly what is going on. ]]]

11:20-11:30 am Mindwarp looks over at Vengeance,then her body goes limp.Her astral self soars,flying in the direction of the the area the bus drivers had in mind.When she arrives she finds a small airfield.Gathered around the airfield are a number of cargo helicopters,and a few busses unloading.The people from the busses seem to separate into two groups.One group heads toward a collection of tents along the edge of the airfield,the other group begins to board one of the helicopters as another helicopter begins to lift off.

11:30-11:40 am Mindwarp moves closer to see if the separation is viral infected mutants and just mutants.She reaches out to read the minds of the persons examining the groups of people to find out more information.The information she gathers is that the people sent here are separated into two groups,one group being normal humans with the virus being sent to medical tents along the edges of the airstrip.The other group is made up of any mutants,infected or not,being sent to board the helicopters.It seems these helicopters then fly the mutants to a 'detention' center,though digging out the details of this center is hard.It seems to be an old military prison somewhere nearby,though she can't pinpoint the exact location from the pilots minds.

11:40-11:50 am Mindwarp 'thinks' the results of this information to Vengeance and asks if she should try to go to the detention center.

11:50-Noon Vengeance sends back, [[[ probe someone's mind to find out what they are doing with mutants who do not have the virus ]]] She quickly reponds, [[[ all the mutants are seperated together and flown out to the detention center,infected or not ]]]

Noon-12:10 pm Vengeance responds, [[[ see if you can find out where they are taking the mutants and maybe we can go there.and get more info ]]] Mindwarp begins to search the thoughts in her range.She finds that when the mutants arrive at the detention center they are scanned again,and separated into groups.What the actual breakdown is,she is unable to determine as the pilots are only concerned with shuttling the mutants where they are ordered.

12:10-12:20 pm Mindwarp pauses in her search,confused.

12:20-12:40 pm Mindwarp continues to wait.

12:40-12:50 pm Marissa's astral self is pulled back to her body,where she finds Vengeance carrying her,moving toward Area 81.

12:50-1:00 pm Marissa bounces in Vengeance's arms,as he runs near the outskirts of town.

1:00-1:20 pm The two begin to make their way into the 'suburbs' around the large city,even fewer people out of their homes.

1:20-2:30 pm The two heroes continue to make their way toward 'area 81'.

2:30-2:40 pm The two heroes begin to hear noises,helicopters,voices and shouting.Up ahead they see barbed wire and fences surrounding a large compound.Inside there are soldiers moving all around,taking people off of the landing helicopters and moving toward a number of buildings spread around the large compound.

2:40-2:50 pm Vengeance and Marissa find a corner to rest,keeping an eye on Area 81.As they sit another helicopter lands and a small group of mutants exit.Soldiers glance at the paperwork each carries and begins to sort them toward different buildings.Each of the soldiers wears an environmental suit with a gas mask and carries a weapon at the ready.

2:50-3:00 pm Marissa begins a thought scan of the area,looking for information on where the soldiers are taking the healthy mutants.There is an area,further back,that is also fenced off from the landing are.There are artillery emplacements guarded by tank squads scattered around this area.Soldiers seem to be everywhere in the small area,all moving around a series of buildings...buildings the healthy mutants are housed in.Marissa finds a barrier,a very large barrier,keeping her mind from reaching into that area.She sits back with Vengeance,gathering her energy.She relays the information she has found to him and the two watch the helicopters fly back and forth around the area.

3:00-3:10 pm Vengeance peers around,looking for a helicopter to come close to him.He reaches out with his magnetics,hoping to find a copter and to actually grab it.His search is for naught,the hcopters are flying to high for him to grab and those on the ground inside the compound are also too far away.
